Baby Boy~

Welcome home baby Marc!
Here's the birth story in a nutshell:
Arrived at hospital to be induced at 10:30 am.
11:30 am Pitocin started- lowest dose.
By 1:30 pm contractions are coming and are strong, but active labor hasn't kicked in yet.
1:30-6-ish pm- hanging out... midwife had some family issues she needed to deal with, I had a great nurse taking care of me, but never saw my midwife until 6-ish pm. I totally got ripped off from having a midwife delivery (she delivered baby, but wasn't there during labor)... but oh well. Nurse kept upping the pitocin until I was at 20, the highest dose. So pitocin going from 11:30-8:18- that's a lot of Pitocin! (ouch)
6-ish pm- midwife finally shows up and breaks my water.
Hard contractions follow, I am in immediate active labor.
7:30- epidural is given. Chloe loved watching that whole thing! ew
8 pm- ready to push!
8:18 pm, baby boy is born: 7 lbs. 9 oz. 19 inches long.
Chloe suited up and helped deliver the baby along with midwife. An experience of a lifetime at 17 yrs. old!

Labor!
Fun stuff.

Chloe the nurse.
Funny thing- my first nurse was the mother of 4 girls and then a little boy at the end, her oldest was a freshman at Utah State about to go to nursing school. Funny how similar our families were. This nurse loved Chloe and gave her little nursing jobs to do.
During the epidural, the guy had Chloe standing by his side and talked to her about the process of doing an epidural. She thought it was too cool.
The midwife had Chloe in scrubs and gloves and was standing right next to her as baby was born. We have that on video and her face is totally priceless as the baby's head is crowning! Once Marc was born, midwife handed him to Chloe, then she place him on me and then got to cut the cord.
Nurse Chloe!

This was the waiting time of the day. Around noon to 6 pm we sat around. My nurse kept upping the Pitocin and such, but active labor never set in until my water was broken ( 1 1/2 hours after water broke, baby was born... SO, if midwife had been available, I would have had baby in early afternoon! sigh!)
Waiting-waiting....

I don't know when this was taken! Moments before the birth, I think!

Blond! He's my baby for sure!! :)

Daddy calling up the family to tell them the big news while holding his new son.

4 big sisters watching their brother get his first bath.

Oldest and youngest.
She kept telling him that day... "I helped birth you!"

Another one of Haley's famous cakes. She made this one night and they all brought it to the hospital and we celebrated Marc's birth!
Then after the family left, I noticed quite a lot of chocolate cake crumbs on the floor of my hospital room.... I liked seeing them there as I was alone and up with the baby all that next night! It gave me comfort!

No longer the youngest!
At first Lindsay wasn't super excited about holding the baby. The first night the girls arrived he was crying a lot and was being given his first bath.
Lindsay quietly came up to me that night and said:
"It's ok, Mom. I don't have to hold him tonight. I can wait until he's one."

Nat is now the official middle child!

Once she held him, she loved it. Now she holds him all the time.

I call this picture:
"He who has many Mothers"

His going home dinosaur outfit.

The complete Lawson Family.

Ready to head on home...

First car ride!

Welcome baby boy!
Oh how we love you!!

First of all how cute is he! And second of all I am so jealous. I have an appointment tomorrow and hopefully there is something going on. Tell Chloe I am super impressed that she was so involved. Most men grimace at the thought of watching labor. Congratulations to the Lawson family!
